Wayno Biography Contact Artist

Wayno is an illustrator, writer and cartoonist who lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA. He wrote and illustrated three issues of a solo comic book, Beer Nutz, in the early 90s, and his comics appeared in numerous collections including Grateful Dead Comix, Robert Crumb's Weirdo, Heavy Metal, Hyena and Duplex Planet Illustrated.

He began to concentrate on illustration in 1993, and started working with the newly launched Nickelodeon Magazine, where his illustrations still appear today. Music interests Wayno as much as visuals, and his illustrations have naturally gravitated toward musical motifs and clients in the music world. His caricatures of musicians appeared in every issue of Cool and Strange Music, where he also published many CD reviews.

He has illustrated dozens of record and CD sleeves. Wayno is proficient in Photoshop, yet his work always retains its distinctive hand-drawn character. Although he is now primarily an illustrator, he has never completely abandoned comics. He writes and draws "Itchy Acres" for Nickelodeon Magazine, and provides gag cartoons to National Geographic Kids, among others.
