In 1973, William L. Panos began his career as a graphic designer in Pittsburgh with Fisher Scientific Company. From 1976 to 1978, he was an art director with Lando Advertising, which later became Marstellar, Inc. From 1978 to 1996, Bill worked as an independent graphic designer.
In 1996, he combined his design experience with illustration and developed a style using egg tempra emulsion as a medium.
The technical demands of egg tempra are matched by a conspicuous emphasis on design and symbolism. Evident influences are the enigmatic paintings by the Swiss master, Paul Klee, and the structural clarity of Byzantine iconography.
He is an art contributor to the Opinion/Editorial section of the Los Angeles Times.
