Clifford McGuire is an artist who enjoys a long standing career in various mediums in both the fine and commercial art fields. His fine art paintings have been exhibited in juried and invitational shows at Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Pennsylvania State University Art Gallery, as well as regional art festivals and private galleries.

Commercially, Cliff established the graphic art firm “Artmedia”, in 1970. As the leading artist of Artmedia, he produced illustrations for publications and advertising for several major corporations such as Kennametal, Teledyne, Allegheny Power (as West Penn Power), Sloan Brothers Company and Arnold Palmer.

Cliff’s training in both fine art and commercial art was completed at Pittsburgh’s Ivy School of Professional Art, where he enjoyed studies under the guidance of notable artists Abe Weiner and Everett Sturgeon. This background has influenced Cliff to share his knowledge with new generations of artists, so when he was invited to join the staff of Oakbridge Academy of Arts in Southwestern Pennsylvania, he accepted the challenge.

Cliff’s fine art arises from his devotion to nature and detail. He stretches and prepares his canvases on frames of wood he has cut, machined and assembled himself. The habit of beginning any project from “scratch” even extends to his home, which he designed and built in a rural setting in Pennsylvania, for his wife Bonnie and their daughters, Shannon, Erin and Sara. His love of nature is evident in the open design of his home. Nature is, has been and will continue to be the inspiration for all his work.
